. . . that someone can help me:

Sometimes I really hate my cleaning frenzies. Several months ago, I consolidated two boxes of stuff. In one box was a Hallmark plaque that had a poem/prayer about friendship. Someone (a school friend) gave it to me a long, long time ago. Something got dripped on it at one point--water or something--and it was damaged. I kept it in a box here at the house, and I always knew exactly where it was.

Then I went through one of my fits of frustration at clutter and cleaning, and consolidated the one box with another box. And I think . . . I'm afraid I . . . I might have pitched the plaque. I might very well have been thinking, "It's been in this box for years, I don't remember who gave it to me, and it's damaged, so I'll never display it."

I asked George about it (again), and he thinks maybe I did throw it out. I'm a little heartsick about that this morning.

Anyway, if anyone has even the remotest clue what I'm talking about, I'd appreciate it. I can't remember the whole poem, but it started out, "Lord, let me be a ---" And then it went through a series of things, the only one I can remember being "a companion in joy and a comforter in sorrow." And it finishes, "In every true sense of the word, let me be a friend."

I can't believe I would throw it out. Otoh, it's exactly the kind of thoughtless thing I would do in a fit of frustration-induced insanity.

*sigh*
