So I've already made mention of Dean's Tape Case. Well, Geo gave away said tape case and tapes, to 16-year-old Nephew. Who was quite pleased, as he is into classic rock. Also, when I showed him my SPN DVDs, to show where I've gotten my current interest, his response? "Hey! I watch that show!" Or rather, he used to. I assume he lost track of it when it changed times/nights/networks. And there's this whole he's-a-teenager-and-has-school-activities thing. "But I like that kind of stuff," he says. "Have you seen Saw? How about 13 Ghosts?" I then proceeded to find the "Thriller" video on YouTube to show him. "By the same director who did An American Werewolf In London," says I. "That's a cool movie," says Nephew16.
But back to Zepplin.
So we go to visit my Little Bro (who is not so much "little" anymore, as he is a good 6'1") and SiL. And Bro answers the door wearing a Zepplin t-shirt. Am I sensing a theme here? Should I be expanding my musical repertoire to include Zepplin? I told him my reactions to the tapes we listened to, that I was expecting something harder, and his response was, "Oh, they've got hard stuff." But yes, there's more to it than that.
I explained to him about the song with the missing 16th note. He said, "There's this song called 'The Ocean'--"
"Yes! That's it! How the heck do you count that thing?"
And he tells me, "It goes from 4/4 to 7/8 to 4/4 to 7/8. I had to look it up to figure it out."
No wonder I was confused.
