SPN - 9.05 - Dog Dean Afternoon

Well, that was silly. It got a couple of LOLs out of Geo. I thought it was believable silly, but did cross the line once or twice, unfortunately.

At the beginning, I was looking forward to an urban legend-type MotW. A snakeman? Really? That's . . . disturbing. Sadly, they did not carry through with my premise.

Also, very much ick on snatching the cats from the pound.

I guess Dean has gotten over his fear of dogs. Though I can certainly see that if Dean were going to have a dog, it would be a German shepherd. (We always had a German shepherd when I was growing up, and if we were to get a dog now, that's what I'd want.)

Overall, not as bad as I'd feared, but it did stray too far more than I'd have liked.

As always, Jensen looked good, and I think he might have enjoyed working with the material. I loved the way the didn't go OTT with the dog stuff. He didn't "turn into a dog." More like "here's how a human would display these canine characteristics." The fetching (without even realizing it), I think, was what Geo and I found the most amusing. :)

Oh, which is another topic. Jared is fantastic with comedy, but this kind of comedy? I really think Jensen does better, or more convincingly. I can't really explain it, but I can't see Jared playing it with the same non-chalance that Jensen did. If that makes sense.

personally, I think the best thing in the episode was after Sam points out he's fetching and they do an eyebrows communication. Can't explain it, but it was funny.

Second best thing? Previews for next week: Cas in a Walmart greeter outfit - hilarious. Wonder if the writers will be geeky and have him working in an "S" mart? (Evil Dead)

Personal opinion? What the dog was about it to tell Dean - that animals are watching things for
God.

I loved the way Jensen played the entire dog thing. It wasn't "I'm a dog," more like "here's how a human would display these canine behaviors." It was great.
