Summer TV: A time to re-acquaint

For the past several summers, I've used the summer hiatus to review the entire series of SPN. Each summer, of course, that becomes a longer and longer task, as each summer I have an additional season to add to the view list. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to do that this summer, or if I'm just going to re-watch S7. I might give it a go during my treadmill time, but the set-up isn't really ideal for undivided attention.
I also want to watch my season sets of Numb3rs. Such a good show.
Watched Roadhouse the other night, the 1989 Patrick Swayze movie, which I'd never seen. It was really good and interesting until about 2/3 of the way through, when it suddenly took a turn for OTT, and I just had to role my eyes. Heh. Cheesy '80s fun indeed. I was also thinking that Jensen might do very well in a remake (insert obligatory *shudder* at "remake,") until it got to one particular scene where I went, "Hmmm . . . maybe not. Is this scene really necessary artistically and story-wise, or are they just showing of Patrick's naked bod?" I still haven't come to a decision on that, but at first blush, it felt gratuitous. Because it was shot to draw attention to itself, rather than shot as an organic part of the scene? Hm . . . Anyway . . . ) It had some really good stuff in it, and oh my word the fashions. The hair. I remember those shoulder pads. Heh!
Part of me would be sort of interested to see an early draft of the script, because from the time it was "Oh, this is interesting," to "Oh, this is over the top. That dude needs killin'. Where are the Feds?" it almost felt like two different movies. Or at least two different writers.
George enjoyed the cinematography, though. He recognized the cinematographer's name, and commented, "No wonder it looks so good."
Cheesy fun if you need escapist action with a hot zen protagonist who can kick the tar outta people. Pop some popcorn, grab a beer, check your brain at the door, and enjoy.
(I can totally believe that Dean is a Swayze fan.)
