Yeah, I'm being spammy today.

Today I got the urge to take a look at my theater resumé. I found my handwritten one, which is more complete than my job hunting resume, but it seemed to possibly have a gap or two. So I went looking on-line for our community theatres' previous seasons.

I found Springfield Civic Theatre's site. And I found Ohio Lyric Theatre's site. But OLT didn't look like it should; there was no logo, and no specific information. So I scrolled through other Google hits. And discovered this.

OTL was a fairly amazing organization. They had three choruses: the children's chorus, the junior chorus, and the adult chorus. They almost always produced a musical for the Springfield Summer Arts Festival. And every Christmas they did a big (huge, actually), full-blown Christmas pageant. The first half was a concert of the three choruses. The second half was a very large (no animals, though) presentation of the Nativity story.

OTL produced the production of Sweeney Todd that I was in in 1995. It's still, to this day, one of the best theatrical experiences I've ever had. Iirc, they also produced the production of The Pirates of Penzance that I was in, also among my very best theater experiences.

I also have, in my Bible, two tattered pieces of ruled paper that I received at an OTL pageant. I was house managing for that particular performance, and was sitting in my usual spot at the back of the orchestra level, by the sound board. And about three rows in front of me, on the other side of the aisle, was a little boy, somewhere between the ages of 5 and 7, maybe. He was there with his dad. He kept watching me, and after the show, he gave me a two line drawings he had made of the Nativity story. A child's simple stick drawings, but so beautiful and dear to me. The child even signed them, with both his and his dad's names. Just little scraps of tattered paper, but I treasure them. I had never seen the child before, and I've never seen him since. I have no idea why he gave them to me, but I keep them in my Bible always.

OTL suspended operations last August, and I just now found out about it. I kinda hurt a little bit.
