Well, that resolved exactly nothing. *hands*

Actually, we got some round-about confirmation of stuff.

1. Lisa and Ben are Dean's family. At least as far as Ben is concerned.
2. Lisa is in love with Dean, and has been for a while now. (This is not news.)
3. Dean loves Lisa and Ben.
4. Dean considers Ben his kid, and Lisa his woman (even if she is pissed at him).

And I love that we got new footage with Dean's flashbacks. (Montage ftw.)

I have issues with Dean's not answering Lisa's calls. Otoh, I think for the most part it played out pretty realistically.

All in all . . . not exactly what I was expecting or hoping for, but we'll see how it plays on re-watch.

The case, however, was creepy. Oy. I never had that problem with Boris, though I treated him a bit more respectfully than Dean did the anatomy dummy.

And what was in the brownies the day the writers wrote the mannequin in bed?

Just for the record? Jensen Ackles is a beautiful, beautiful man. And he looked really good tonight. *nods*

Next week . . . I knew we had this ep coming up. If ever the show was going to jump the shark, I think this would be the one. Because this goes beyond meta into . . . well, I'll just wait and see how it plays out.

("So, what, now you're Polish?" . . . . BWAH!)

I am annoyed with the episode - but hey, Sera gave the fans she considers important some of what they wanted.

I agree that Dean loves them and they love him but what was the message of that ep? That in the end Dean is forced to stay with Sam? Where all his thoughts about real famiiy went? Into nothing? I don't see why to bring that issue back only to drop it there and then?

That's what I mean when I say there was no resolution.

I am glad that we got actual confirmation of things we already suspected/knew, and though it made me uncomfortable, I'm kinda glad Ben called Dean out. Because there's only been a handful of times someone has called Dean on his low self-esteem, and sometimes everyone needs that smack upside the head.

I don't think the ep was actually supposed to have a "message." The case, while being somewhat interesting, was more of a place marker. The primary purpose, I think, was to show where this other part of Dean's life is going. He'd been avoiding it ever since the Veritas case, and now he's forced to acknowledge that he can't just turn his back on it. Last week was Sam facing what his past year meant. This week was Dean facing what his past year had meant.

But I didn't feel like anything was actually resolved. There wasn't a definitive break-up, and Dean even more freely talks about Lisa and Ben as if they're his family.

I'm not expecting them to revisit the issue, but otoh, I wouldn't be surprised if Lisa and Ben show up again at the end of the season.
