feliciakw: (Christmas - Snoopy house)
[personal profile] feliciakw

Step One

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a custom-made icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post*, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

Surf around your friendslist (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My List (in no particular order)

1. Another year of LJ.

2. An iTunes card.

3. To see The Addams Family musical again, this time from a good seat on the orchestra level. Preferably before Nathan Lane leaves the production in March.

4. Ticket (preferably "The Works" ticket, though Gold works, too) to the June 4-5 Supernatural Convention. And
&
5. Someone to go to the convention with.

6. Recipes from my f-listies (including those who wander by from time to time). Specifically: A recipe that is representative of your region of the country/world, or that holds significance in your family or your life, including a story of the background or history of the recipe.

7. The theater to get built and for me to get on part time as House Operations Manager.

8. Visions!Dean fic.

9. A new umbrella. (Maybe an Addams Family umbrella?)

10. For God to fill the hole in my heart that only He can.

*Contact info can be shared via PM upon request.

8. Visions!Dean fic.

LOL. I make no promises, but we shall see. :)

re: the convention: it's too bad it's the June one you want. Sandwiched right between the weddings of two of my good friends. Even if I could scrape up $$, no way could I go with.

Did you see where the June one is being held? It's killing me that it's so close, and I can't afford to go.

I wouldn't refuse tix to the L.A. or Vancouver con, however. I'd make it work. Or Chicago. That would work, too. (She says, having not checked the dates on any of them.)

ETA: Checked the dates, and those all work as of right now. And since they've moved the ChiCon date away from my anniversary, that's no longer a conflict. Heh.

Regional recipe: Damper

I learned to make damper in Girl Guides, but I'm afraid I hadn't memorized the recipe. But here's one that's pretty close to what I remember.

* 2 cups of Self-Raising flour
* 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
* Teaspoons of Sugar
* 3/4 Cup of Water

Add all the dry ingredients together and mix then whisk in the water and kneed by hand. Up to a 100 Kneads. = Knead mixing by hand. If the mixture is sticky add a little more flour, the dough should hold together well without breaking up.

Of course, proper damper should be cooked over a camp-fire.

Roll the Damper out like a long thin sausage then wrap it round a stick; leave enough stick to hold on to and not burn your hands. Hold over a fire full of hot coals and toast until golden-brown and not burnt. The crust should be solid enough to tap and make a sound.

Eat hot with butter (or butter and Golden Syrup).

Darn, that's making me hungry.

Visions!Dean fic.

Now would that entail Dean having visions... or visions of Dean... dancing in your head. (What a cute Sugar Plum Fairy he makes! No wonder those Fae folk spirited him away!)

I've been vowing to myself to get back at the writing (pledging 2000 words a day, though so far today have only managed a rambling post of Season 6 theorizing which may well be dispelled and disproven by tomorrow night). But since that's done now, fic should be forth coming. Will there be Visions!Dean? I do not know... Dean!Whumage... mos def... I am mean...

As for others, recipies may be forthcoming as well. We shall see!

That particular request was more directed to [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha. She and I (mostly she; I've been her sounding board) have been working on a Dean-has-visions fic for . . . three years? (She has a title for it, but we call it visions!Dean as shorthand). It will be excellent and well received once it's finished. It just, you know, needs to get finished.

A goodly portion of it can be found here (http://izhilzha.livejournal.com/283266.html#cutid1).

However, should you so wish to write of Dean having visions . . . or with your cracky ways, the Fae attempting to make Dean eat sugared plums or whatever . . . have at, as the muse strikes.

And since [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticval was the one to originally request visions!Dean, I'm sure she wouldn't mind if [livejournal.com profile] girlyghoul70 wrote some. :D
