A BTS still from "Phantom Traveler." Note Jensen's left arm. They must have nixed the body art pretty early on, because the scene of him in bed at the beginning of the ep, his left arm is unmarked. Which would also seem to indicate that whatever they were shooting that day, they shot that first, did not show or nixed the tat, and shot the motel scene at a later date.

(For those not in the know, Jensen has no tattoos in real life. He and Jared have both commented on this, Jared saying that as an actor, he feels it would be himself intruding on a role to have body art, and Jensen stating that it takes too long to cover such things in the make-up chair, and he'd rather use that extra time to sleep.)




Please also note that Puppy has lost his shoe.

I found a larger picture, and it actually looks like an eagle or bird of some sort to me. Would there be a protective symbol that fit the bill?

Finder of lost shoes!!... Or not.

You may be onto something. Though part of me wonders if the writers were really thinking that deeply about it back then. They may have planned to have Dean with a cool protection tat... but then they may have thought it would just make his character look extra tough and rebellious. But then of course, dropped it all together for all the make-up/ continuity issues that would come into play.

It's a really cute picture all the same.
