Here's a brief round-up of some of the reviews Batman: Under the Red Hood is getting. I'm seriously considering going ahead and pre-ordering the blu-ray.
I've made a list of reviews that I've been sent or have found below the cut.

Supernatural's Jensen Ackles gives the Red Hood the sort of simmering anger and immediately commanding presence that the role demands. Having so skillfully played a character like Dean Winchester who has that same sort of authoritative presence, internal torture, and darkly sarcastic sense of humor, Ackles is clearly an inspired choice.

Truthfully speaking I expected to really just dislike this film,…I have to say this really was a damn good film. Time will tell how I feel since I think I say that about every one of these DC Universe titles and then later realize the flaws with each of them, but for the time being Under the Red Hood was a genuinely surprising and entertaining film. Definitely a Recommended outing, which is truthfully a higher rating than I thought I’d give it when I slipped the disc into my player this morning."
Then of course there is Jensen Ackles as The Red Hood, which is probably one of the strongest performances out of the entire film—really quite exceptional all around.
DVDVerdict.com
The best performance is Jensen Ackles as the Red Hood. He gives the character equal parts youthful energy and cold menace, creating a memorable villain to go toe-to-toe with ol' Batty.

As for as the rest of the top-billed voice cast, all do a fine job in their respective roles. Let’s give voice director Andrea Romano her proper due as she is spot on with her casting yet again. Both Jensen Ackles as The Red Hood and Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing totally fit the bill and do one heck of a job in their respective roles -- especially the former. Ackles’ really delivers the angst/anger that his part both needs and deserves.

Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles gets extra fanboy cred for bringing Red Hood to life and making a guy in red mask interesting;
And a user review:
ComicBookMovie.com
The appearance of Red Hood, voiced by the fan-loved Jensen Ackles, makes me ill that I haven’t seen him on-screen as a villain, as his voice commanded the fear and anonymity that Hood desired. This was a brilliant casting choice…perfect.
There have been one or two user reviews I've read wherein the reviewer, for whatever reason, didn't like Jensen's performance--they didn't think he fit the part, or they don't see why the movie needed multiple actors to voice the character, or whatever. But the overwhelming majority thinks Jensen was the perfect choice and did an excellent job, at least as well as the seasoned veterans.

Date: 2010-07-17 08:28 pm (UTC)And Dream!Dean, ending with demon!Dean. Oy!
As far as Jensen playing villain, have you seen the remake of MBV? (I've got it on DVD if you haven't.)
It's funny. Someone at a convention asked him if he likes to play good guys or bad guys better (Jared, for example, obviously relishes the opportunity to play evil). Jensen said that playing evil allows you to do things you normally can't (or something like that), but he prefers to play the humorous good guy, ala Harrison Ford/Indiana Jones, because that's what he was raised on.

Date: 2010-07-17 10:15 pm (UTC)Personally, I would love to see Evil!Dean, mainly because we haven't seen it much. Shapeshifter was really Not!Dean. So really it's only been Dream/Demon!Dean and Siren Spell!Dean (which did not last very long).
I've never been shy in my absolute lurrrrrve for Evil!Sam which we DID get to see aplenty. So, it's just Dean's turn to be Evil!
And hey, even if Jensen preferrs the Indiana Jones type there WAS Evil!Indy in Temple of Doom, so there ya go. He could do it! And it would be AWESOME! (Creepy... but AWESOME!!)

Date: 2010-07-17 10:33 pm (UTC)I have some thoughts on exactly how much evil!Sam we've seen, versus possessed!Sam, which makes the evil not Sam's fault. But we call it evil!Sam because Jared loves playing it, and because it's Sam's body.
Who knows. We might get evil!Dean this season at some point. I couldn't be a possession, really. Would have to be more of a mind whammy thing.
However, I'm still hoping for a gypsy-cursed-speechless!Dean. *nods*

Date: 2010-07-17 11:37 pm (UTC)But I guess what I'm thinking is, possessed, under a spell or Bad!Angel Vessel, Sam's always been in there somewhere, hence Evil!Sam. So Jared's had to play another character that was still some part Sam (which was probably pretty hard to do).
The Shapeshifter was another character, Dream/Demon was a dream (Or a buried part of the psyche, perhaps?) and Siren!Spell.... well it really didn't last that long at all. So Dean being possessed or a vessel or under a spell for a long time hasn't happened yet and it would be cool to see Jensen play an Evil!Character that was still Dean inside. It think it would be super cool and super HOT!
Gypsy Curse? Niiiiiiiccceeeee. Mucho possibilities!
