Thespic inspirations and elements

Because girlyghoul70 asked for an explanation, here are the thoughts behind my list of inspirations and elements.
First, a brief background. Last Saturday, I and one of the other ladies at my church performed a skit during the ladies' tea (finger sandwiches, bite sized desserts, and tea. You get the picture). I had a week to learn the skit, and it had a lot of physical comedy in it, which I've not done much of in my life.
So here's what I tried to draw from:
Jensen Ackles Because he always challenges himself. And he obviously enjoys comedy. Keeping this in mind helps me push myself.
Jared Padalecki One of the gestures I used during a speech I borrowed from Jared (and modified for my own purposes).
zumba I used the goofiest steps from my zumba class for my "victory dance" portion of the skit.
Carol Burnett Because the skit was reminiscent of a "Mama's Family" sketch. Different characters and topic, obviously, but I could see Carol and Vicki Lawrence doing this sketch.
Bertha Beumiller The character I played in a production of Greater Tuna. GT is written as a 2-man show, with the actors quick-changing out of costume and playing all the characters. But for the community theater production we did, we cast the roles separately so as to get the most people involved. Anyway, I played Bertha, and I tried to remember how I spoke when I played Bertha and recreate it for this skit.
Does that answer your question, cous?

Date: 2010-07-04 09:25 pm (UTC)The zumba step might have to wait until it's just you and me. Picture a child (a 40-something year old child) straddling an imaginary horse and "galloping."
*hands girlyghoul a scrubby to remove the image from her mind*

May need a second scrubby...
Kidding! I'm sure the ladies at tea were spitting out their finger sandwiches and snorting tea through their noses at that one.

Date: 2010-07-04 09:23 pm (UTC)Okay, here it is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs_BKjQedkA"). Go to the section that runs starting at 4:50. When Jared points to his brain at 6:12, that's what I used, only two-handed. I had a line something about donating my brain to science. Jared's "he thinks he did *pointpointpoint*" came to mind, so I modified it (used both hands) and used it. :-)
