I'll have to re-watch (in widescreen, 'cause you know I have a better experience than when I watch in full screen) to decided exactly how much I want to enthuse about this ep. But over all? I liked it.

Opening scene: OUCH! Oh, Dean. *hugs him tight*

Bobby chewing Dean out. Yes, sir. Dean needs reminding that he matters to people.

I liked getting confirmation that yes, indeed, Sam now understands what his leaving always did to Dean.

I liked that Adam was all WT??? about the brothers he never met.

I hurt for Dean being completely without hope, and how much it hurt him to tell Sam he didn't believe in Sam any more, and how he didn't want to say it, but he was being honest.

I loved how Sam still believed in Dean and in doing so gave Dean a reason to start fighting again.

I hurt for Dean when Cas beat him to a pulp, and I hurt for Cas that he no longer believes he has anyone to believe in.

I was totally not expecting Zach to get ganked.

For most of the ep, I didn't really feel like they were making storytelling progress, but that last scene? \o/ I can have confidence, yes? Confidence that finally, finally they've reached the point they've been working toward all season (and longer). That they are on equal footing. They recognize themselves and each other for what and who they are, and are now equals. That they are finally back to being brothers, fighting back-to-back and side-by-side. Yay! \o/

Yes, I am eager to re-watch this. I'll be back with my long-and-rambly after I do that. Maybe on Saturday.

In only semi-related news, I was watching one of my mom's talk show/news magazine shows with her tonight, and they had a segment about a study done in Scotland about what kind of men women are more attracted to, macho or sensitive, and how that preference relates to the availability of health care. (Bzuh?) Anyway, women in the US apparently prefer machismo over sensitivity, though the women discussing the study were one of each (one woman preferred sensitive; one woman preferred macho). I told my mom, that's why Jensen Ackles is a near perfect specimen. He's a combination of both. *g*

Anyway, as you were.
