I think you usually are about two weeks behind us in the foliage bloom. Ohio I think is the same way. And yes, the azaleas are amazing. And a lot of our blossoming trees have not yet lost their blossoms.
We're going back to Ohio this weekend, and I think I'm going to ask my dad for a lilac start from one of my grandma's lilac bushes.
