I loved how they took mythology and turned it upside down and sideways and gave it a modern language.
Oh, yes, a lot of the actors were Antipodeans. Yes, a lot of the guest stars/recurring characters were American, but if you watch the show long enough, you get to recognize the regular NZ cast.
Actually, my interest in MH taught me quite a bit about his adopted homeland (he's English by birth), which is fascinating. Thanks to him, I know what a haka is, and I've seen him perform one.
