Mardi Gras!

It's Mardi Gras! Time for red beans and rice, beignets, pralines, and king cake! Time for N'Awlins jazz, beads, costumes, and gold, green, and purple.
I went to Mardi Gras with my parents and a couple of their friends many years ago. I wish I'd been keeping a journal back then, because it was an Ad. Ven. Ture. and on the out-of-control-wild scale, we were very tame. Maybe next year, if I'm still on LJ, I'll post about it. 'Cause even without the getting naked and random sex and drunkness, it was a blast! (Mardi Gras really is what you make of it. And it cannot be explained. It must be experienced.)
Danneel Harris made the home page of Fox News's website this morning. Thus was I led to my first mental dissonance where Jensen Ackles is concerned. I knew much of this stuff about her already--she's a regular in Maxim, she usually plays the vixen, she'll do nude scenes (which is a complete 180 from a previous interview, wherein she says she'd never do nude scenes because once you go down that road, there's no turning back . . . or something like that). But given the first paragraph of this article, she and Jensen seem like complete opposites in their love of the fast lane lifestyle. They also seem to be opposites in their passion for the art (she just stumbled into acting because she liked the fast lane), but that's just my speculation on the matter.
Now obviously, I don't know either one of them personally, so who knows. And all the Danneel-bashing that goes on in the Jensen fandom well and truly annoys me to no end. But just going by independent, outside-of-fandom reports, I'm kinda going "Bzuh?"
I'm hoping my copy of Venice magazine arrives today. I'm looking forward to sitting down with that particular read.
