Guys. You . . . I . . . Wha-- . . .

I was just contacted on Facebook by a friend I haven't seen or heard from in *counts on fingers* about 23 years. One of my very dearest friends from middle and early high school (who moved when we were sophomores), whom I really thought I'd never hear from again, like, ever. I . . . I'm stunned. Delightedly stunned, but stunned nonetheless. I mean, what do you say to a person whom you haven't communicated with in twenty-three years? How do you even begin to catch up?

It sounds like life has treated her well.

In other news, I'm fighting a head cold. I blame the flu shot.

WOW, that's crazy. And cool!

I'm sorry you're ill. Ugh. *hugs*

I'm told that's part of the appeal of Facebook. Yay for reconnecting with old friends, even if it's sort of weird reconnecting after a million years. Hm, maybe I should go look for some of my old middle school pals...

My friend from freshman year found me on Facebook as well. Really freaky.

You do not want to know how long ago I was a freshman.

It came completely out of the blue. Seriously, I have not spoken to her in 23-24 years. I think of her from time to time, wondering if she were even still alive (because you never know about car accidents or unexpected illnesses and the like). It's wild.

Thanks!

I just . . . this is so out of the blue I almost don't know what to do with this information. It sounds, from her profile and photo albums, like she's led a very exciting life thus far.

This incident inspired me to see what high school classmates I could look up. Some of them have listed themselves under names I remember, which is good, because I would not recognize them otherwise, and others have good pictures of them that made me go, "Oh, yeah! Did I know she was married?"

It is really freaky. I wouldn't have recognized her just seeing her picture. But to see the name pop up in my in-box. That was really . . . surreal.

Some woman claiming to be in my homeroom in senior year found me but never wrote back. I have no idea who she was, but then there were 100+ people in my homeroom.

I recently contacted one of my best friends from high school - and an old neighbor. It has been over 12 years since I had talked to both people.

I send pics of myself and my family. Gave them the "christmas newsletter" version of what's been happening and then just made a point to say howdy at least once a week.

My old neighbor and I are "talking" via email several times a week. The great thing.... it's like we haven't been apart!

I made the first move and found out she and her husband had been talking about us just a few days before!! It's been great. Even though my best friend from school and I don't talk as much, and seem to have more space between us -- it's still nice to have that contact.

Don't worry about catching up as much as keeping in touch.

It feels so good to re-establish old friendships. They are precious!
