Evil Dead and meds will knock you out

No, not together.
Watched the original Evil Dead for the first time last night. For those who don't know, the original was very low budget, then there was a remake, Evil Dead II by the same guys on a larger budget, then there was a sequel Army of Darkness. All are the collaboration of Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi, and Bruce Campbell. (Tapert and Raimi, but mostly Tapert, went on to produce Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Campbell guest starred occasionally as Autolycus, Prince of Thieves. Sam's brother Ted guested on Xena a lot as Joxer the Mighty. Ted also went on to guest on SPN as Wesley, the guy who opened up the wishing well in "Wishful Thinking." And Sam and Dean pose as "Tapert and Raimi" in "Long Distance Call." So there's your "six degrees from Supernatural for the day." Anyway, where was I? Oh, right.)
Watched the original Evil Dead last night. And you know what? I was creeped out more than I have been by any episode of SPN, like, ever. I don't know when the last time I had to hide from a horror movie was. For a low-budget, it was done really well, but there were some really, really unpleasant things in it, and I haven't been that creeped out by contact lenses and make-up and just general creepiness in a while. (I've mentioned before, I think, that weirded out eyes are one of my buttons. 'Tis why I won't look at JDM straight on and only watch him out of my periphery when he's playing possessed!John. But I've gotten used to SPN's eye effects. These last night were just disturbing. *shudder*)
In a lot of ways, it reminded me of Peter Jackson's Dead Alive, in which the actors swim in gallons of goo by the end of the movie.
"Hell Hazers II" was a blatant reference to the Evil Dead movies.
And I think Dean used a line from Army of Darkness in "Hammer of the Gods."
Anyway, it was an okay movie. I can understand why it has gained cult status, but it really wasn't my thing. It just didn't . . . I don't know . . . something just didn't click for me or something.
Bruce Campbell was so freakin' young.
I had every intention of going to zumba tonight, but I'm not this med that I take 3 times a day for 12 days out of the month, and it knocks me for one heck of a loop. I'm sure the gray, cold, rainy weather doesn't help, but I came home from work and took a 2 hour nap. Oy! And I take this med in the morning, after work, and in the evening. It's like I want to sleep all. day. I'm glad the weekend is coming.
And finally, for those who haven't seen it yet, via
