They can't *not* do it. They CAN'T. From a storytelling perspective, *not* doing it would be ridiculous. It's gonna end up with Dean and Cas against Sam and Ruby.
Oh, I totally think it's gonna happen. But it can happen early enough in the ep that by the end the boys know they fucked up, each in their own way, and have a joint mission to fix their mess, whatever that mess may be. That's my hope, anyway. Oh, boys.
ETA: That would be a reeeallly long episode, wouldn't it. Damn! Let me eat pie!
