Dr. Who: "Human Nature"

See my icon? *points to screamingly frustrated Dr. Joel* This would have been my reaction had I not had a sinus headache at the end of Dr. Who last night. Not necessarily because it was the first of a 2-parter. That would have left me screaming, yes. BUT . . .

SciFi Chanel, in its infinite stupidity, has decided to air marathons, as per usual for a federal holiday weekend, next weekend (Labor Day). Hence the brilliant and handsome Doctor has been preempted by an SG-1 viewer's choice marathon. Now, I've got nuthin' against SG-1. But that's just stupid. Especially when they're going to air . . . excuse me? . . . Painkiller Jane in its usual spot. What "brilliant" mind in the scheduling department came up with *that* idea? I'd like to beat them soundly about the head and shoulders with a scallion.

The upshot being that I've got to wait two freakin' weeks for the second half of Dr. Who.

That's just all kinds of wrong.

So I toddled over to [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen's LJ to see her comments on the show. I see that I could seek out the book on which this ep is based, but I was afraid to read your entry, [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen, because of the spoiler warnings.

I'll have to figure out a way to distract myself for the next two weeks.

Btw, loved the ep. Am tempted to compose the 2nd half in my head in the meantime.

Do you have an iPod? 'cause I'm not sure, but I think I might be able to send you an MP4 of the other half. Maybe. How much can you fit in a gmail file? (zipped, of course)

SCI FI stinks. Like offal in a Nebraska summer.

Well, my non-book comments were:

Random bits I liked:
The creepy head-turning in unison.

I liked the scene where Mr. Smith was telling Timothy about "not being yourself", for the double-layered meaning in it, yes. And I liked that he noticed that Timothy wasn't doing as well as he could.

The way Smith was staring at the sonic screwdriver, obviously recognising it, but speechless.

Further thoughts...
I really liked how faithful Martha was (points at icon). I liked how she was mature and responsible and able to bear the weight of the world on her shoulders. Even emotionally mature, too -- her reaction "you fell in love with a human, and it wasn't me" -- that wasn't jealous, but merely sad and frustrated. She doesn't begrudge him his love, but she knows it can't last.
