Brief thoughts on "Fresh Blood"

"Fresh Blood."

Written by Sera Gamble.

Directed by Kim Manners.

It has two of the best brother scenes in the entire series.

Even the Gordon-Kubrick scene has a particular poignancy.

Gamble and Manners: a winning combination.

(Well, Manners and anybody is pretty much a winning combination.)

No Rest for the Wicked

The ep was so stressful when it first aired. So tense and the impending doom was just . . . ugh. And yet, humor sprinkled in, but humor with a melancholy doom to it.

If this is my last day on Earth, I do not want it to be socially awkward. )

Long-Distance Call, Time Is On My Side

Rather than do an in-depth analysis of each of these eps, I'm going to talk a little bit about where we are at this point in S3.

As long as the moldies are callin' the freshes around here, it's the best lead we've got. )

Bad Day at Black Rock, Sin City, Bedtime Stories

Last year's thoughts on early-ish S3.

Not a whole lot to say about these three eps, because they're pretty much continuing apace with what's been going on.

Further thoughts behind the cut, though I think the spoiler warnings are long expired on this stuff. )

Continuing apace with S3

I wrote about "The Magnificent Seven" and "The Kids Are Alright" last year.

Here's what little I have to add. )

SPN S3 fly-by review

Well, gang, I know I've been lax about my S3 reviews. I've been re-watching and I've made a couple observations, but overall, the thinky is just too too to me to put into words. But . . .

Watching S3 from the far side of S4 )

SPN S3 (Magnificent Seven and The Kids Are Alright)

I know I went light on the reviews for S2. There's just so freakin' much there that I didn't have the energy to tackle it all. If there's something specific you'd like to know my thoughts on, just ask.

I'm up to S3 in my refresher viewing, and here's where things really start getting twitchy for me. The whole thing takes a seriously dark turn and the tone goes from cool and creepy to grim and desperate.
