The Spoiler Conundrum

As posted last year:

To be spoiled, or not to be spoiled: that is the question.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous wankage,
Or to take arms against a sea of unrevealed plot points
And by opposing, be completely blindsided when they appear?
To spoil, to flail no more?
And by the spoilers to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That fannishness is heir to, 'tis a consummation
that has its pros and cons.
To spoil, to flail. To spoil, perchance, to squee. Ay, there's the rub.
For in that squee what flails may be forstalled
When we view the ep as aired,
Must give us pause . . .

ComicCon is over, and SPN interviews are hitting the 'Net. I watched one that had nothing in it I didn't know. Then I watched another and had to turn it off mid-way through because my inner spoilerphobe started screaming in pain. ("NOOOOOO!!!!!! I don't want to know that yet!!!! *sticks fingers in ears* LALALALALALALALALALICAN'THEARYOULALALALALALAL!!!!!!)

However, when panel vids start getting posted, I'm afraid I'm going to have to cave, at least partially. It's been too long since I've seen a new interview, and its' still two months until the season premiere.

How am I gonna survive?

I don't know. I'm staying cozy in my flist and not peeking out.

I just discovered that even my f-list is not safe. Perhaps I shall have to retire from LJ for the next eight weeks.

I consider myself spoiler free with exceptions. ;) I read one interview with Kripke and I always watch the Comic Con stuff because it shows the general direction the season is headed. Then I stop. I don't read anything else because I don't necessarily want to know specifics. I will say that I am really, really looking forward to season 6!

I usually don't read or watch interviews with Kripke or the other writers. I don't trust them with the spoilers. Either they're going to tell me more than I want to know, or they're going to get me worried without cause.

Maybe you in your spoiler-free-ness can tell me how spoilery the Comic Con stuff is when you see it?

Also, why are they starting the season almost a week later than usual? That's just cruel.

I have not watched every clip. Didn't look for the clips they showed of an actual episode and I won't. Casting spoilers...the only one mentioned was one I stumbled upon. I watched a couple of interviews with the guys by AOL I believe. They are just about the direction and feel of the show. Nothing real specific that you don't already know. There is one thing that I know will only be temporary and I didn't consider it life shattering, though I'm sure some people are freaking out. How's that for vague? Really, what I liked about the interviews was how genuinely excited Jensen and Jared are about the show and their characters. And that has made me even more excited. Plus Jensen talks about directing himself without giving anything away plot-wise and it's just so nice to see his enthusiasm.

I honestly don't remember there being anything spoilery from this morning's panel. A little bit about the direction of the show, a clip from an upcoming episode. There's only one small thing that comes to mind, but it's something that's going to be solved within the first five minutes of the premiere, so I don't really count it. It was mostly "this is the direction the story is going in," "this is some casting news you already know," "this is an overly vague response that really doesn't answer anything." Basically, if you've been paying attention to the usual news there isn't anything shocking to discover.

Hm . . . direction of the show is okay. No vid clips of any sort (I see nossink, I hear nossink, *covers eyes* lalalalnotlisteninglalala).

Casting news . . . I guess I'm getting used to stumbling over stuff I really don't want to know until the ep airs. *shrug*

Maybe I'll watch the stuff with just one eye and one ear?
