The Unit
Didn't start HP1 last night. Instead we watched The Unit on DVD. George has really taken to the show, which I find
amusing.
I started watching The Unit when it premiered as a mid-season replacement last March. Geo didn't watch with me, but he did watch the season finale with me, and there was one ep that, when it was re-run, I made him watch. He's very impressed with the show on many levels, and when he found out that it was coming out on DVD, he said he wanted to get it. Color me surprised.
So the other day I asked him, "Do you know why you're enjoying The Unit (meaning how he discovered it)?"
"Because you made me watch it."
"And do you know why I started watching it?"
"No."
"Robert Patrick."
"Huh?"
"The X-Files."
"Oh, right."
"Because I watched The X-Files, you're enjoying The Unit."
Ah, the intricate web that is television enjoyment.
Now, to be certain, there's a lot of really good stuff about TU. The cast, for starters. The characters. The twists and turns and switches of the missions. The dialogue. The family dramas back on base. The writing. And the familiar faces that show up, or have shown up, other places.
Dennis Haysbert, who was originally Senator Palmer from 24 to me (I stopped watching before he was elected president).
Scott Foley was in an A&E movie, Firestorm, with Richard Burgi recently.
Max Martini played Billy Cooper, Don Eppes's buddy from his Fugitive Recovery days on Numb3rs
Robert Patrick of Terminator 2, The X-Files, and Walk the Line.
And now Summer Glau is a new (recurring?) cast member. As Geo said, she looks really different when she's not acting possessed. I told him it was because he was seeing her in a full face of make-up. She's also speaking in full, coherent sentences. *g*
Guest stars have included Bruce A. Young (Sentinel fans know him quite well), and Lindsey Frost, who got her start on "my" soap opera (which I have watched in years and years), As the World Turns.
And there are other familiar faces that I recognize but cannot place.
So that's what I did last night--folded laundry and watche TU with the hubby.
