"HEARTS IN MY CUPCAKES!!!"
Or maybe not.
Thanks to Dean's recently revealed love ofDing Dongs Bing Bongs, I went out on a quest to find a recipe for homemade Ding Dongs.
And I found one. (I actually found several, but this is the one I tried.)
Pretty simple in concept, they're a little bit time consuming (rather like buckeyes in that regard).
And I need to experiment with the amount of filling (hearts in my cupcakes!) I put in. I didn't want the cupcakes to 'splode, and as a result, I didn't put in nearly enough.
Cupcake after filling, before dunking:

Finished cupcakes:

Sadly, the filling didn't happen the way I wanted. I was afraid to put too much filling in, for fear the cupcake would explode. I was later told to let them explode. :-)

These cupcakes have received the seal of approval of an almost-ten-year-old boy, which I'm assured is the highest rating such a thing can receive. In fact, I've been asked to make some for his birthday party. All in all, I'd call it a success.
I also received nice comments about the for at the Christmas luncheon yesterday.
But next time, I will try to make sure there are hearts in the cupcakes.

Well, it looks like somebody has found their marketing niche! Ha!
Some of that is really rather disgusting. But some of it is hilarious.
I need to get a knack for filling cupcakes, but afterwards, this looks promising. Heh.
