For those who haven't heard, Jared Padalecki now has a twitter account.

It sounds like the way I ended up with a twitter--peer pressure in a moment of weakness. It would seem that Jensen is the last holdout.

Stay strong, Jensen! Don't give in! (Though he has mentioned considering getting one that's officially his . . . and then never using it.)


I told Geo that there's a con in Nashville this weekend. He reacted with surprise. "So close!" says I.

"That's what I mean," says he. "I'm surprised you didn't go."

"I would have if I could afford it . . ."

"True."

" . . . and had someone to go with."

Geo raises an eyebrow at me. "GeekFriend?" he says. "I'm surprised you and GeekFriend didn't go."

"Ooh," says I. "You're right. Maybe next year."

I'm not holding my breath, though, considering the expenses we'll have coming up. Still . . . maybe . . . hmmm . . .

I think Jared is too obsessed with apps and technology to get one and never use it, but for Jensen it would be a viable (and smart) option, b/c at least then everyone would know who all the fakers were.

Jim tweeted him some very good advise: all things in moderation, and don't let it eat up your life. It'll be interesting to see if he uses it just for his friends, or if he interacts with his fans, too.

Hopefully Jensen will smack it out of his hands if things get out of control. *snerk*

Luckily, he has enough of a sense of humor that when the nonsense happens, he can just laugh it off. I hope.

I've had a twitter account for . . . eh . . . a year or more? If I've made a dozen posts in that time, that's a generous estimate.

Of course, now that Jared has one, I'm gonna have to check in more frequently.

Or not.

I'll be interested to see how he uses it--just for friends, or to interact with the fandom.

I've watched a few more vids from the con, and Jensen does seem to harbor a bit of disdain for it.

I give Jensen a lot of credit - he's clearly not a guy prone to being swayed by peer pressure at all considering everyone he works with, is friends with, is married to is on twitter. He appears to continue to hold the whole thing in some contempt, and given what Danneel's put up with, I can't blame him. If he hasn't been swayed so far, I don't see it happening, which I think is smart because he'd be inundated with a ton of wackos.

I'm looking on this as a matter of principle now. Heh. I've often thought of giving up my twitter account because I never use it. Of course, now that Jared has one, I'll have to check in more frequently. Or not.

I agree--Jensen does not seem to be one swayed by peer pressure. And I also agree that he seems to harbor a bit of disdain for it. Though I imagine he'll have more material with which to razz Jared now.

But I think you're right. He's very aware of the nutjobs and fruitcakes that are out there, and I can't really see him opening himself up to that.

ITA and i hope jensen will continue to stay out of it. I can see getting a ptivate account to interact with friends but to have a public one? For what? To whine that fans would console you? Or whine that someone offended you? I still can't get why public people get open accounts there.

Oh, the fandom demands and whining for Jensen to get a twitter account are going to redouble after this. I wouldn't blame him for getting one just to shut everyone up and to establish it as his.

However, considering is very apparent dislike for the medium, I would also expect him never to use it.

There's even a con clip wherein he's telling Jared to be careful how he uses it. Jensen apparently cannot believe the stupidity of high profile people when it comes to internet socializing. I gotta say, I agree.

I agree too and iirc Jensen even joked he'll get an account and won't use it.
Anyway it's one thing to interact with friends and the othe to engage fans. Doint the latter you bacome a prisoner of all those people. If you're like Misha and like to play it's ok but be prepared you'll be crucified for your every move.

Yes, given his propensity to play with his iPhone, I think he will be an excellent source for random photos. He's already started.
