I've never been . . .

Well I’ve never been to Greenland
And I've never been to Denver
And I’ve never buried treasure in St. Louie or St. Paul
And I’ve never been to Moscow
And I’ve never been to Tampa
And I’ve never been to Boston in the fall.

(from We're the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything)

And I've still never been to Boston in the fall. But it feels like Chicago in the fall. *nods*

We're at another presentation of These Amazing Shadows. George is on the Q&A panel tonight, followed by a reception. Then tomorrow there's a 2 hour panel followed by another reception.

I need to figure out if there's anything we want to see while we're here (I'm sure there is), and see if we can fit it in tomorrow.

Also? I loath with a white hot passion the backscatter x-ray machines they have at the airports, simply on principle. Not for invasion of privacy, but for risk of health. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for security measures at the airport. But how on earth can it be safe for us to be full-body bombarded with x-rays when similar technology in hospitals and dentists offices requires personnel--and the patient--to be covered in lead to protect everyone from the radiation? Particularly pregnant women. And that's not even considering the TSA personnel who have to stand by the thing all day.

I could have opted out of it, but I didn't know the metal detector was an option. The only reason I didn't put up a fuss was because I know I'm not pregnant.

Also, I might have grumbled at the poor guy who tested my saline solution (for my contacts) because it was a full bottle. But, hey. That I understand.

Are you planning to head to any of the film fests in Rochester?

If we do, I'll let you know!

Wait, they let you fly with a full bottle of saline solution?! What size was it? Last time I flew with a regular one they just tossed it and told me to buy more when I got to my destination.

Yep. I was dense this time and packed my bottles in my carry-on. Usually they go in my checked luggage. It was a regular sized bottle, full or near full. He took it to the side, and must have squirted some on a test paper or something, because he brought it right back. (I didn't see exactly what he did because I was putting my shoes back on.)

I have a feeling that it just depends on who you get the day you go to the airport.

I know if something is prescription-based it can be larger than the allotted 3 ounces or whatever. I once flew with a lotion-like medication that the airport pulled aside and tested. But, yeah, I really think it depends on who you get.
