Adventure brewing

Guess who's going to Utah next week. Guess why she's going to Utah.

Because my husband is an internationally respected expert in his field (he gets so embarrassed when I say that, but I tell him, "I'm allowed to say it. I'm your wife."), he was interviewed for (and possibly narrates part of. We haven't seen the film yet) a movie called These Amazing Shadows, a film that explores the history of film and film preservation. (The filmmakers even took the title from something Geo said.) The film has been accept to and will be screened at the Sundance Film Festival next week. So the producers invited George. And this time, I'm going with him. :-)

He's also going to be on a discussion panel, which should be interesting.

I should probably start checking weather forecasts for Park City. I might need new winter boots.

Awesome!

I'm guessing YES on the winter boots. :D

Take lots of pics!

Oh, yes. The new camera is going with.

And tomorrow I think I'm going to go look for sales on winter things.

Hope your computer is up and running soon!

Fantastic! And many congrats to Geo.

I went through Utah back in 1979. Gorgeous country! And a definite "oh yes ma'am" on the boots.

Thanks on the congrats!

I bought a pair of what my SiL calls FUggs (Faux Uggs) from my SiL. And I think tomorrow we're going to check some sales on winter things. What a great excuse to add to the wardrobe, huh.

You're going to Sundance?! :-D

Oh man, huge congrats to Geo, and that film sounds amazing!

How totally awesome. *dances for your adventure*

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the congrats. If the film ever makes it to DVD, I'll let you know.

I'm eager to get a hold of a schedule to see what sort of things will be playing the weekend we're there.

Wow! I know a famous girl!
Congrats btw :)

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

And, well, I'm not famous, but I marries someone who could easily be (and kind of is, in his professional circles). Hee!

[identity profile] leelust.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the wife of celebrity is the celebrity too :)

This is me, being jealous and so excited for you that you get to go to Sundance! How awesome! And Utah is beautiful, in very very cold and inhospitable during winter. Definitely go for a short hike if you get time and sunshine enough.

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm hoping we have time to do other things, though I suspect that a goodly portion of our weekend will be spent in film screenings.

[identity profile] mlevins.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
How wonderful that George gets the recognition in his field that he deserves. Having the bonus of Sundance in the mix is a bonus for him (and you, of course ;-))

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'm very proud of him. He's also going to be the first LoC rep that the LoC has ever had at Sundance. \o/.

[identity profile] mlevins.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The first? Well, it is about time then--I can think of no better representative ;-)

[identity profile] yasminke.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well done, Geo.

Utah is a weird place. Stunning scenery, heaps of snow, piles of weird people. I should know -- I was a Utahn for a while.

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

I'm hoping to get at least a little time to enjoy the scenery. And maybe some shopping.

I imagine the film festival is sure to draw some interesting individuals. Don't know how typical of native Utahns they'll be, though. :-) I doubt I'll get much of a flavor of "real" Utah.

[identity profile] yasminke.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, more likely the rich imported type that go to Park City as opposed to the original Sundance Ski Ranch (whatever it's called).

[identity profile] just-ruth.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Wonderful! I bet it mentions the George Eastman House and all its efforts up here in Rochester. :D

Congratulations!

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-15 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'd be surprised if GEH was *not* mentioned. Geo has done a lot of work and knows a lot of people who work there, or have worked there.

Thanks!

Congrats to your husband! Have fun in Utah!

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-15 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Thanks! Hopefully I'll have pretty pictures to post.

[identity profile] scionofgrace.livejournal.com 2011-01-15 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Woohoo! Wow, that sounds like so much fun! Congrats! Have an awesome time!

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I've only ever flown over Utah. I'm kinda looking forward to the new experience. And the snow. Everyone looks at me like I'm nuts, but January means snow to this Midwestern girl. New boots, new sweaters, so I'm ready!

[identity profile] sarcasticval.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh la la. Look at you guys, all fancy :) Have a blast!!!

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! Well, I doubt I'll be as stylin' as the Hollywood and indie movie types, but I'll do my best. :-)

And SO MANY MOVIES! And I have no idea which ones I want to see . . . except the one that I *do* want to see won't be playing until we leave. The gal who was in our own indie movie several years back is in one of the movies being exhibited this year. Sadly, we're not crossing paths.

Hopefully I'll have lots of fun stuff to report.
