I doubt Sam = Lucifer's meatsuit was on the drawing board at this point in the writer's room.
Oh, I'm sure it wasn't. But that's kind of my point. If you're going to develop a mytharc, there needs to be a logical cohesiveness. You've laid the foundation; you have to build on that. If you're going to ret-con, at least make your ret-conning make sense. Ya know?
I can totally go along with Lilith trying to become Grand Empress Pubah at this point in the story. I don't think she realized her role in the seal breaking until she tried to trap Sam in S4, at which point she still tried to wiggle out of the sitch.
