Things I miss . . .
Things I miss about vacation:
1. The ocean.
2. Family.
3. I went barefoot almost all week. Only wore sandals or shoes on our various excursions.
4. The built-in exercise. We stayed in a 3-story house in which the kitchen/living room was on the 3rd floor, Geo's and my bedroom was on the 2nd floor, and of course all outdoor activities required going to the 1st floor.
5. Being in an environment where I did not feel pressured to justify the project for which I work to the community in which I work. (While I'm very glad I have a job, the nature of my job has become tedious and frustrating on several levels.) In other words, I could step away from the editorials and on-line disinformation and short-sightedness and rudeness, of which I have been charged with keeping track, that is regularly leveled at the restoration project. So, being totally removed from that was fantastic.
Re: #5 . . . Yes, I'm back at work today. It's not been too bad, but an e-mail exchange on which I was copied reminded me of how closed and short-sighted people can be in my community. It's tiresome.
Vacations are always great for recharging the batteries and possibly getting you to look at your everyday life with slightly fresh eyes. I wish I could keep the relaxation and energy after I get back.
I've got lots of introspective thinky things I might post about. You have been warned.
