feliciakw: (Christmas - snowy tree)

Winter Wonderland

The snow continues to come down. I've squeed with glee more than once this morning.

We have two lamp posts. This is the one we affectionately refer to as the Narnia Light.

The Narnia Light at 5:30am:

Out the bay window at 5:30am. Geo comments that the bird feeder looks like Marg Simpson. Ha!

My car at 5:30am:

The front walk, 5:30am. That's our other lamp post at the end of our driveway:

Looking out your French doors onto the screened-in back porch:

And two views of our back yard:

And it's still coming down. Word is that the last time Culpeper had this much snow was in 1989. Previous to that it was 1969. Sounds like a 20-year pattern to me.

Also, if anyone can tell me how to display these pictures larger than they show up in the entry, I'd be much obliged. :-)

Wow. That is so pretty! And that lantern is so perfectly Narnia it makes me giddy inside. :)

When we saw the house for the first time, that was one of my first comments: Oh! There's a Narnia lamp! Hee!

And yes, the snow is still coming.

Can I use your Lantern picture for an icon?

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It is beautiful, isn't it. Great minds think alike. I've been thinking of making an icon myself.

Geo says he'd be honored if you'd icon it. :-)

If you wouldn't mind, credit the photo, please? And thank you for asking.

Oh! And thank you so much for the iTunes card! And the lovely card it came with. They arrived just in time!

You're welcome! And here you are - nothing fancy, but I like it. :)

Yes, that is quite a lot of snow. Can I presume from the way it has built up (such as on "Marge") that you don't have a lot of wind and it is coming straight down? I hope for your sake that is the case, otherwise you could have some monster drifts out there!

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
There's been some wind, but not huge amounts. For the most part, it's coming straight down. And the flakes are bigger now. And church has been cancelled tomorrow, so it looks like we won't be going anywhere tomorrow, either. Heh!

[identity profile] izhilzha.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's beautiful. :)

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It is, isn't it. Tomorrow we'll have to shovel, so Geo can get out to go to work on Monday. I'm going to at least try to get to work on Monday, too. We shall see. In the meantime, church has been cancelled tomorrow.

I love it. It looks gorgeous. We're getting another layer today - not quite as photogenic (and not quite as much), but still beautiful.

When people complain about the snow (and I can't believe how many do), one thought I get is always, "Don't you have EYES?"

The lamp is awesome too.

Yesterday was the stay in and enjoy the scenery. Today was dig out the driveway. But with the sun out and the sky blue, it was still beautiful.

Wow, I have to admit I do miss the seasons. Today in Burbank it's sunshine with a high of 75. Your pics are so pretty.... and you're right, you DO have a Narnia lamp post! That's pretty cool!

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
The sun is out today, and the show is so sparkly and pretty! But after digging out the driveway, I'm too tired to make the snow angel I was so looking forward to making. Maybe tomorrow.

Wow, so much snow. We have so small amout of snow it's ridiculous and they say it'll melt next week *sigh*

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we'll actually have a white Christmas this year.

Geo and I dug out our cars and cleared the driveway yesterday, and I am so sore this morning. I called my boss (who is out of town for the week), and she is totally understanding of my not going to work today.

[identity profile] leelust.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I want your boss!

[identity profile] ficwriter1966.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, bless you and your merry glee. *hugs you* We're supposed to get 2" here and that is MORE than enough for me. I go out and shovel, the plows come along and plow it all up onto my sidewalk and driveway so I shovel the now cement-like substance again. Rinse and repeat. And that's not even mentioning having to drive around in the foul substance. So you may have our portion, with my fondest wishes.

The pictures did turn out nice, though. :)

Merry glee on the first day. Invigorating exercise yesterday. Sore back today. The county is closed today, and I called my boss (who's out of town) and she essentially told me that I probably wouldn't be going to work all week.

But I'm going to try to get some Christmas errands done today, so we shall see how the roads are.

[identity profile] shadow-of-doubt.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa! You DO live in Narnia!!!

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
IKR! And now that the sun is out, it's so pretty and sparkly! My boss told me to stay home from work today, but if the roads are clear (which is not a given), I'm going to try to get some Christmas errands done today.

[identity profile] kimmer1227.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
We were spared the snow. Got less than an inch in my driveway. Some places nearby got 2 or 3, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time til we get our share.

Nikki says they're snowed in, too. People were stocking up in the stores like it's the apocolypse or something. Better call Dean and Sam.

[identity profile] feliciakw.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Apocalypse indeed. But we dug out yesterday and some of the roads are at least passable, so I'm hoping to get some errands done today. We might even have a white Christmas this year. I hear the forecast is for another winter storm on Friday. Yes, call Sam and Dean.

My sister said they mostly got a ton of rain on the coast, so this must have all unfrozen by the time it hit her. But ooooo, look at all the snooooow! I'm sure it was a huge, huge pain (my aunt in Maryland said absolutely everything was shut down) but it's sooooo pretty!
