Half-baked theory
I'm hoping to get my review up today, sometime after work. There is much chewy goodness going on, particularly from my way of looking at the story. Anyway . . .
After looking at the "Soon" previews again, my theory is this:
Lilith is the last seal. Dean broke the first seal, thus starting the domino effect. Sam will kill Lilith, thus breaking the last seal and Armageddon shall commence. With Dean fighting with the angels, and Sam, having killed the leader of the demons, becoming the new leader on that front.
And that's where we'll break for hiatus.
And that's when I'll curl up in a ball and start muttering in denial that it can't possibly go that wrong.

BUT...I hope that since that's the obvious way things will go, that Kripke's Warriors have realized that, and have come up with something entirely different. I've heard murmurings about a "ZOMG!!!!!" ending that will blow our socks off, and I don't think this would be it.
I wonder, too - the previous seals (what I can remember of them) were allowing something bad to happen. The rising of the witnesses, the rising of Samhain, the killing of the reapers - that all seemed to be bad stuff. Whereas killing Lilith would seem to be...good. So again, I think you're right (Sam building up those Sooper Speshul powers with the aim of killing her), but -
But maybe I've answered my own question. Maybe it's not Lilith's death that's the seal, but Sam taking that final step into dark powers that would *allow* him to kill her, and using them to actually commit the deed.
Still, none of that is shocking. I'm looking for something as "ZOMG!!!" as the Impala crash in 1.22. I wonder if we'll get it.

But I really don't want to go there.

I must be really dense 'cos I hadn't thought of that at all. I figured the last seal would be directly related with Sam, but hadn't tied it in with Lilith's death. Plus my nail biting about Bobby's fate hasn't left much desire to seriously theorize on the matter.
I think most of my energy is being spent on finding a happy place in dealing with the boys being at serious odds. My insides still go pretty twisty at the thought.

But yeah, I will curl up in a ball with you, on the phone. Why are you doing this to me now, Kripke? I can't have ay comforting gin until after Billy Jo is born!

Yes, this. Because I didn't really get the feeling that Lilith can read the future; makes much more sense if her offer was motivated by finding out that she's bound up in the breaking seals.
