Today's Adventures in Church Music

Today's musical repertoire included "To God Be the Glory" . . .

. . . in the style of surf music.

Traditional melody, but the tempo and arrangement made me want to grab my board and hit the surf.

Hee.

It's about a half-hour drive, right? That's how far our church has always been from us (with the exception of a brief, shining period of less than a year when we lived on campus, ten minutes away from church...ah, the luxury). You get used to it.

It's actually closer to a 45-minute drive. Not quite the hour it takes to get farther into Charlottesville, and the drive itself isn't really a problem (straight now Rt. 29). But gasoline prices are icky (as I'm sure you're well aware).

But when I mentioned on Sunday that my area of interest in drama, the woman I was talking to got this scheming look in her eye. Then someone in the group asked, "Youth or adult?" I shrugged and said, "Either/or. I've worked with both." To which the first woman said, "We'll talk."

So, yes, I think this holds promise.

Yeah, that does sound like it might be worth the time and money to get there every week. *grin*

Yes, trust God for the gasoline. I'm at least a 45 minute drive from my church right now (well, if there's any traffic), and prices are certainly bad (esp. with my funds so low), but God wants me there....

And this really sounds like a good fit for you guys, so far.
