Deetle-ah deetle-ah deetle-ah deetle-ah dink dink dink . . . Do do do do do do . . . deetle-ah deetle-ah deetle-ah deetle-ah dink dink dink . . .
I'm numb. The lower right quarter of my face is numb. And you know what I realized? That the bright spotlight lamp at the dentist's office is the same kind that Scully, Mulder, et al had to stare at during their . . . erm . . . abscences from Earth. How did I finally figure this out?
Because after decades--DECADES, I say--of not needing any dental work beyond the regular cleaning, I had to have fillings put in today. And I had very little to watch except the shiny light with the "X" in the middle. An "X" that looks just like the X-Files logo (except sideways). At which point I go, "So that's where they got that X. How appropriate."
I hope I get the feeling back in my face before I have to go to work tonight. I look okay. But I feel all swollen and puffy and numb.
