Fic request (AU after 7.12)

An AU request? Really?

Premise: AU ending to "Time After Time." Dean and Eliot were successful in killing Chronos, thereby trapping Dean in 1944. Dean becomes Eliot's partner in the past (with appropriate adventures ensuing), while Jody becomes something of a partner to Sam in the present.

Interesting thing: When Jody and Sam are going through Bobby's books, they find an old hunting journal, dating from 1944 through . . . up to the author. It's tucked away in a seldom-used box (it was in the storage locker, after all).

It's the journal of DW. Scattered throughout are notes to Sam, some hunting related, some personal. A casual reader might wonder if DW had the quirk of naming his journal "Sam," or who this mysterious "Sam" might be. Sam and Jody know better.

If the author could find a way to return Dean to the present after not too much time has passed, that would be delightful. If not, a total AU wherein Dean never makes it back would be heartbreaking and induce a desire for chocolate.

I can't write it for you but that is an awesome request :-)

You know what else would be good in this scenario? Dean getting married and having children, and Sam looking up Dean's grandkids in the present.

Or is that just too too much space-time dissonance?

Eeeeeeeeeee! I don't know how I feel about that. Hehe.

On the one hand, if Dean returns I think it's better if he never got married that Sam knew of so that his return to the present doesn't make it bittersweet. Like oh, he could have had a better life if he stayed in the past kind of.

But if maybe he never returns again, then at least if he was married, Sam can console himself. Although I think I would die a bit if they boys didn't reunite. Waaaah!

Well, if Dean returned to the present in fairly short order, that would hurt my brain because if he got married and had a family, he could conceivable run into his children or grandchildren as adults.

See? Brain broken.

So if he returns in fairly short order, I'd prefer no permanent ties to his life in 1944.

If he doesn't come back . . . I noticed Ness was wearing a wedding ring. It would be interesting to see Dean have a family in a time that didn't involve the apocalypse and world destruction, but still involved hunting.

But Dean being trapped permanently has problems of his own. Such as the breaking of our hearts. *nods*

This is totally kind of awesome. Are you requesting it or writing it?

Requesting. Are you offering to write? *anxious eye*

Thinking Aloud

The name meant nothing to Bruce Campbell. The sight of the tall, sad-eyed young man meant little more.

"How can I help you Mr. Smith?"

"Mr. Campbell, I'm here because I know you had 'special consultants' down in New Zealand. . ."

"That was twenty years ago, son," Bruce shrugged into his jacket for the next shot. "You'd be better off talking to Rob Tappert. . ." He trailed off as he stared at the photo 'Mr. Smith' showed him. That damn necklace. . .

"My brother took this in early 1945 - it was part of a raid on an illegal racetrack betting parlor. . ."

"Of course it was."

"They called him only 'The Purple Fedora'."

"Yeah, he has a thing for purple."

"He was bailed out. . ."

"By a big guy, eeyeah -- wait, did you say your brother in 1945?"

"He's trapped in time, Mr. Campbell."

Bruce yanked a page out of his script (it had already been rewritten) and scribbled on the back. "I warn you, kid; they aren't who you saw on television and they may not be as helpful as you think. . ."

Can I help it if I've had those guys in my head ever since "Hammer of the Gods?"

Did you have someone in MIND to write this? Because dangit I don't need another bunny right now... You have the whole plot already fleshed out, but there's room for a few fun twists in there. Hmmm.

DANGIT.

No, I do not have anyone specific in mind to write this.

*bats lashes at you*
