I seriously tried to read the first book - but like so many things other people are sure I would like, I didn't. I barely made it through three chapters because the writing is horrible.

"Oh, but it's written as if it was really written by a fifteen year old" then I guess I know a very unusual group of fifteen year olds because they all write better than that.

I also found it impossible to like the heroine.

I shocked people at work when I said "I didn't like the first book, why would I go see the movie?"
